With the 2012 elections fast upon us, many organizations are planning advocacy efforts during the legislative and election season. In this webinar, participants will learn: how the Federal systems work; how to learn about your state system; effective advocacy techniques (direct and grassroots, from meeting with legislators to writing to them); advocacy vs. lobbying; limitations of 501(c)(3) nonprofit lobbying/advocacy; issues facing grandparents/kinship caregivers in the 2012 elections.
This webinar is presented by Michelle Bauer, a former lobbyist with experience as a New York State Senate staffer and experience on over 30 local and state campaigns, as well as two national campaigns.

Building a Coalition through Collaboration: A Two-Part Webinar Series

Presented by Michelle Bauer, a nonprofit professional with significant experience in coalition-building and collaborative success, this two-part course provides an overview of the why, what, and how of building a collaborative movement. Included in the presentations are guides, tip sheets, and additional materials to enable participants to start coalition-building immediately.
The webinars will utilize existing kinship coalitions for examples, as well as other collaboratives focused on children and families.
The training will occur in two parts: First, on August 6th from 2:00-4:00pm EST and second on August 13th from 2:00-4:00pm EST. Payment includes both webinars. Legal Issues in Kinship Care: A Two-Part Webinar Series

Presented by attorney and kinship expert Gerard Wallace, this two-part course provides a comprehensive overview of Federal and state laws that govern private and public kinship care. Participants will learn about grandparents and family rights and legal obstacles to successful caregiving. They will receive a "chart" that simplifies the many legal issues, and examine typical "hypothetical" situations faced by kinship caregivers.
This training will occur in two parts: First, on August 22nd from 2:00-4:00pm EST; and second on August 29th from 2:00-4:00pm EST. Payment includes both webinars.
